Slim Chance are a brilliant live band, whose members are all fine singers, musicians and showmen, playing an amazing array of instruments. The band is known for its pioneering use of fiddles, mandolin and accordion. Recently the Huffington Post described the band as ‘the real deal’, an ‘organic multifaceted collective’ ‘raising the roof’ at one of their regular London gigs.
Slim Chance has its origin in the early seventies, formed by the legendary musician and brilliant songwriter Ronnie Lane who had been a mainstay of both the Small Faces and the Faces before he went on to pursue his unique musical vision with Slim Chance.
Since then, the release of the film ‘The Passing Show’, the 2004 concert at the Albert Hall with Pete Townshend and Paul Weller, and more recently the re-release of classic Slim Chance material by Island/Universal Records, have led to a resurgence of interest in Ronnie Lane’s music and the band Slim Chance.
The line up now features original members Charlie Hart, Steve Simpson and Steve Bingham. They are regularly joined by guests including the fine drummer John Lingwood, Geraint Watkins, Des Horsfall, Benny Gallagher and more. Their set includes a host of classic Ronnie Lane songs including Ooh la la, Debris, The Poacher and How Come as well as original tracks from their new album “On the Move” which is getting rave reviews in all the top music press.
The band has played many club dates and festivals including Glastonbury, Broadstairs, Wickham, Cornbury, and Canterbury. Slim Chance have released two albums to critical acclaim and are about to release their version of the classic Ronnie Lane hit “The Poacher” accompanied by a video shot by BAFTA nominated producer Paul Crompton. There is no finer live band in the country.
