Nazareth
Nazareth is without doubt the biggest Rock Band to emerge from Scotland. The band formed in the late 1960's.
In the early 70's the band toured with Deep Purple and Roger Glover produced the album Razamanaz.
This album was followed by Loud 'N' Proud in late 1973, which contained another hit single "This Flight Tonight". Then came Rampant, in 1974, which was equally successful. "My White Bicycle", also charted in 1975. The classic 1975 album "Hair of the Dog" brought them international acclaim. This collection spawned two major hits, "Broken Down Angel" and "Bad Bad Boy".
The title track of that album (popularly, though incorrectly, known as "Son of a Bitch" due to its hook lyric) became a staple of 1970s rock radio. The American version of the album included the melodic Boudleaux Bryant-penned ballad "Love Hurts", which became a global hit. In the US, it went platinum.
The song became a top 10 hit in nine other countries, reaching number 1 in six of them. The song was on the Norwegian chart for 60 weeks.
Nazareth has come a long way over the last five decades. Thousands of concerts Worldwide.
The line up has changes several times but the backbone of the band, Pete Agnew has always remained and continued the legacy of one of the World's premier Rock institutions.
